About the Treatment
Laser hair removal uses a specific wavelength of light to target melanin (the pigment) in the hair. This is why hair removal works best when there is color in the hair. Since hair grows in different stages and for different lengths of time, multiple treatments are required. Typically, we can achieve a 70-90% permanent hair reduction with around 6 treatments, 6 to 10 weeks apart. Everyone will have some regrowth with time regardless of the technology used. This is why occasional “touch up” treatments may be recommended.
What to Expect During Treatment?
The Lumenis Splendor X is equipped with a double cooling system; it uses an integrated Zimmer Air Chiller as well as a chilled tip to ensure increased safety and a comfortable treatment. These features chill the skin while the laser pulse is delivered to target and destroy the hair. With a large spot size, you can expect your treatment to be quick. We have the ability to treat both underarms in less than five minutes or an entire back in less than 20 minutes!
The appearance of the treated area following treatment varies from patient to patient, depending on the characteristics of the patient and treatment given. You may have some redness and swelling that should resolve in a few hours. After each treatment, you will notice less and less hair growth in the targeted area. Most patients notice results after just one treatment! Your treatment provider may advise additional precautions, such as limited sun exposure and protection.
